Frequently asked questions
Everything about going to events, hosting, tickets and refunds, talent bookings and staying safe on Livvy.
Getting started
Livvy is free to download on iPhone and Android, free to join free events, and free to host.
When you buy a ticket to a paid event, you pay the ticket price plus a booking fee and card processing. You see the full amount before you pay. Hosts and talent pay a commission out of what they earn, and nothing up front.
All the current rates are on Pricing and fees.
Livvy is for people aged 18 and over. We ask for your date of birth when you set up your profile to check your age. Your profile shows your age, never your birthday.
Livvy is built for Adelaide and the area around it.
Open the app and choose Continue with email, Google, Facebook or, on iPhone, Apple. There is one way in for everyone: if you're new, we create your account; if you're not, we sign you in.
With email, we send you a 6-digit code instead of asking for a password. Then you set up your profile, which takes about two minutes.
- Check your spam or junk folder, and that the email address is spelt right.
- You can ask for a new code after 30 seconds. Each code works for 10 minutes.
- After 5 wrong codes, that email is paused for 15 minutes to keep your account safe.
Still nothing? Email support@livvy.social from the address you used and we'll help.
If your account has a password, you can still use it. If you forget it, choose Email me a code instead.
To change your password, go to Me › Account › Change password. If you sign in with Google, Facebook or Apple, there's no password to change.
A guest profile is for going to events, meeting people and hosting your own events. Most people start as a guest.
A talent profile is for getting booked to perform or work at events: DJs, bands, singers, hosts and MCs, photographers and more. Talent profiles take bookings; they don't host events or go to them as guests.
One account can have one guest profile and one talent profile, and you can switch between them.
Yes, at livvy.social. You can browse events, buy tickets to many public paid events with just an email address, see your tickets and events under My events, and look at talent profiles.
Creating and managing events, chatting and booking talent happen in the app.
Your profile
A username, your date of birth, your gender, a few interests, at least one photo and your suburb. Writing something about yourself is optional but helps people say hi.
Before you finish, you'll see your profile exactly as other people will.
- Your username, never your full name.
- Your age, never your birthday.
- Your gender, your suburb and roughly how far away you are, never your address.
- Your photos, interests, about, badges and what people say about you.
- "Active now", "today" or "this week", only if you have Show when I'm active on.
- Events you're hosting, and public events you're going to unless you turn that off.
Go to Me › Your profile. You can change your photos, interests, about and suburb, and use See as others do to check how it looks.
Guest profiles can have a main photo and up to 5 more. You always need at least one photo, because hosts use your main photo when they approve guests.
Tap Switch on your profile card in Me, or go to Me › Account › Your profiles.
Each profile has its own events, chats, favourites and notification settings. To add the other kind, choose Add a profile.
On someone's profile, it shows the interests you share and events you've both been to. It's an easy way to start a conversation.
Profiles show Events they're hosting and Events they're going to, so you can join people you get on with. Tap a heading to fold a list away.
Invite-only events only show to people who are invited, have asked to join or are going. The going-to list only shows public events, and you can hide yours from everyone else under Me › Privacy and safety › Show events I'm going to. Events you host always show.
Host with the Most is for hosting events people enjoy: bronze after your first event, silver after 7 and gold after 11, with at least 80% rating it great for silver and gold.
Highly Rated is for great ratings: bronze after 4 reviews, silver after 7 and gold after 12, with at least 80% rating it great.
Finding events
Discover shows events coming up near you. Search by name or suburb, and filter by when (today, tomorrow, this weekend or dates you pick), category, distance (5 to 100 km), free or paid, and vibe. Sort by soonest or nearest.
No. With location off, Livvy shows events around Adelaide, and you can still search and filter. Sharing your location just makes "near me" more accurate. Livvy never shows your location to anyone.
- It may be invite only. Those only show to people the host invites.
- It may have finished, been cancelled or not been published yet.
- It may be outside the distance in your filters. Try a bigger distance or search for it by name.
- If you've blocked the host, or they've blocked you, you won't see their events.
Tap the heart on the event. It goes into Favourites › Events. Only you can see your favourites.
Following is like a bookmark for people you've met or want to meet. There's no approval: tap Follow and they're in your Following list, and they get a notification. If they follow you back, you'll see "You follow each other".
Going to events
- Anyone can join: tap Join (or buy a ticket) and you're in straight away.
- Anyone can ask to join: you send a request and the host approves each guest.
- Invite only: the event is hidden, and only people the host invites can come.
The host or a co-host looks at your request, and you'll get a notification when they answer. If it's a paid event, you only pay once you're approved, and you then have 48 hours to pay before your spot goes to someone else.
Accept or decline from the notification, or from My events › Going, where invitations are at the top. If you decline, the host is told, but you don't have to give a reason.
For a paid event, accepting takes you to pay. You have 48 hours.
There's no waitlist, but spots open up when guests cancel. Save the event with the heart and check back.
Not by yourself. Once you've cancelled, or the host has said no, you can't join or ask again, but the host can still invite you.
My events › Going shows your invitations first, then upcoming events with where you stand (Going, Ticket, Requested or Pay now), then past events, including ones still to rate.
Everyone can see the suburb. The exact address and map pin show once you're confirmed: accepted, and paid if it's a ticketed event. Hosts, co-hosts and booked talent always see it.
From 3 hours before an event starts, you can let the host know you're on your way, running late or there. They help the host plan, and they close when the event ends.
The event chat opens for the host, co-hosts, guests who are going and booked talent. It's the place to sort out lifts, find each other on the night and share photos afterwards.
Seven days after an event's end time, its chat turns read-only. You can still read it, but you can't post. If an event is cancelled, guests leave its chat.
If the host changes the name, moves the time by more than 30 minutes or changes the venue, you'll get a notification saying what changed. If it's a time or place change and you paid, you can choose a full refund of your ticket and booking fee within 72 hours (or until it starts, if that's sooner), or tap I'm still going.
Tickets and payments
The ticket price set by the host, plus a booking fee and card processing. The event page and checkout show the full amount before you pay, with nothing added afterwards.
The current rates are on Pricing and fees.
Payments go through Stripe's secure checkout. Livvy never sees or stores your card details.
After you pay, your ticket's QR code is on the event page (Show ticket) and in My events › Going. We also email it to you, and send a reminder on the day, about 3 hours before the start (or at 7 am for morning events).
Check your spam or junk folder. Your ticket is always in the app, under My events. You can also sign in at livvy.social › My events and resend the email (up to 5 times a day).
Yes, for public paid events that anyone can join, when they're on sale on the website (the event page shows Get ticket). You only need an email address, and your spot is held for 30 minutes while you pay.
Free events, events where the host approves guests, and invite-only events are in the app only.
Sign in to the app with the same email address. Your Livvy account is already there with your tickets; you just set up your profile.
For a ticketed event, show the QR code from the app or your email. The host or a co-host scans it, and each ticket can be scanned once.
Free events don't have tickets. The host has the guest list.
Cancellations and refunds
Open the event, tap ⋯ and choose I can't go (or Cancel my ticket for a paid event). Please do it as early as you can, so someone else can come. Once you've cancelled, you can't rejoin unless the host invites you.
It depends on how long before the start you cancel:
72 hours (3 days) or more before: 100% of the ticket price.
There are no refunds if you cancel your ticket within 3 days of the event start time
The booking fee and card processing aren't refunded when you cancel. More detail is on Cancellations and refunds.
You're refunded the ticket price and the booking fee automatically, and you'll get a notification. Card processing isn't refunded. The same applies if a host removes you from an event.
Refunds go back to the card you paid with. They usually take 5 to 10 business days to show, depending on your bank.
Report the event from its page (⋯ › Report this event) and tell us what happened, including whether you paid. We read every report and reply by email, usually within 48 hours.
Hosting events
Tap + and follow the steps: the name and category, when, where, who can come, tickets, then photos and a description. You can review everything before you publish.
Your draft saves every time you tap Continue, so you can leave and pick it up again from My events › Hosting.
Hosting is free, and free events cost nothing at all. For paid events, guests pay a booking fee on top of your ticket price, and Livvy keeps a commission from your ticket sales when you're paid. The rate is locked when each guest pays.
The current rates are on Pricing and fees.
- A name of 3 to 60 characters, and a description of 60 to 3,000.
- Between 1 and 500 guests.
- Tickets from $1.
- Up to 14 days long.
- A cover photo and up to 11 more.
Guests need to know exactly where to go, so the location has to be a venue or a street address with a number. Search for the venue by name (for example a pub or a park with an address), or use your location.
Don't worry about privacy: until someone is confirmed, they only see the suburb.
Choose Anyone can join, Anyone can ask to join (you approve each guest) or Invite only. You can change it until the event starts, and nobody already going is removed.
Set up payouts first, so we can pay you (see Getting paid). Then choose paid tickets when you create the event and set your price. The ticket price, and whether an event is free or paid, can't be changed once it's published.
My events › Hosting › Manage guests shows who's going, requests waiting for an answer and who you've invited. Accept or decline requests, invite more people, or remove a guest. A removed guest is refunded their ticket and booking fee.
When you have co-hosts, whoever answers a request first answers for everyone.
Open your event and choose Invite guests, then pick people. Changed your mind? Tap Undo straight away and they won't be told.
You can also invite people again who cancelled or whose request you declined.
You can make any guest who's going a co-host. Co-hosts can invite people, answer requests, remove guests, scan tickets at the door and update the photos, description and extras.
Only you can change the name, time, place, who can come, guest limit or tickets, and only you can cancel the event.
- The name, time and place, but guests are told about big changes: a new name, a move of more than 30 minutes or a new venue. You can add a note of up to 300 characters to the message.
- After a time or place change, paid guests can choose a full refund.
- In the last 24 hours, the time and place are locked, and you can't move the event into the next 24 hours.
- You can move the date twice at most, and no more than 60 days from the original date.
- The guest limit can go up, but never below the limit you published with, or the number going.
- The ticket price, and whether it's free or paid, can't change. To change those, cancel and create a new event.
- Once it starts, only the photos and description can change.
Open the event and choose Cancel event from your host options, then pick a reason. Everyone going is told and refunded automatically. Only the host can cancel, and only before the event starts.
For paid events, choose Scan tickets from your host options and scan each guest's QR code. You or a co-host can scan, and each ticket works once. Guests can also tell you they're on their way, running late or there, from 3 hours before the start.
Yes. Choose Find talent for this event from your event, or browse the Talent tab. See Booking talent below for how it works.
Booking talent
Open the Talent tab to browse DJs, bands, singers, hosts and more, or choose Find talent for this event from one of your events. Each profile shows their packages, prices, photos and what people say about them.
Choose a package (and how many hours, for hourly packages), an optional start time during your event and a message. You can book for one of your events, or directly for something else, such as a private party, with its own name and place.
Talent see only the suburb until they accept.
Up to 72 hours, or until the event starts if that's sooner. If they don't answer in time, the request lapses and you're both told, so you can book someone else.
Only once the talent accepts. You pay their price plus a booking fee and card processing, and you have 48 hours (or until the event starts, if that's sooner) to pay before the booking lapses.
Livvy holds the payment until after the gig, and you can chat with the talent in the booking chat.
Tell us how it went: Yes, it went well releases the payment to the talent. If something was wrong, choose Report a problem instead, and we hold the payment while we look into it.
If you don't answer, the booking is confirmed automatically 3 days after the talent marks it done, so report anything before then.
Before you've paid, cancelling costs nothing. After paying, it depends on how long before the event start you cancel:
- 56 hours or more before: you get back 100% of the talent's price.
- 24 to 56 hours before: 75% back (the talent keeps 25%).
- Less than 24 hours before: 50% back (the talent keeps 50%).
The booking fee and card processing aren't refunded.
If the talent cancels, you're refunded their price automatically. If they don't turn up, choose Report a problem on the booking (Provider never arrived) before you confirm it. We hold the payment and look into it.
Being talent on Livvy
In the app, choose Add a profile › Talent. You agree to the Talent provider agreement, then add your talent name, category, at least one photo, a short about (up to 600 characters) and your packages. Set up payouts so hosts can book and pay you.
Joining is free. Livvy keeps a commission from your price when you're paid; the package screen shows exactly what you get. The current rates are on Pricing and fees.
You set your own prices. Each package is either a fixed price or an hourly rate (you can set a minimum of 1 to 12 hours), from $1. You can have up to 10 packages, each with a name and a description.
Talent only appear in the Talent tab, and on livvy.social, once payouts are set up with Stripe and you have at least one package. Check Me › Payments and payouts to see if anything is still needed.
Yes. Create one talent profile for the act and add your members (up to 20, all 18 or over).
Turn on Available now when you can take last-minute work, and add tags like Evenings, Late nights or Book in advance. You can also set how far you'll travel.
Yes. Your profile has a public page at livvy.social/talent/yourname (your talent link) that you can share anywhere, once you're set up to be booked.
Up to 72 hours, or until the event starts if that's sooner, after which it lapses. You'll see the suburb until you accept, then the full address.
To say no, pick a reason (for example "I'm not free then") and add a note if you like.
Keep the host updated from the booking: on my way, running late, arrived, started and completed. Once you mark it completed, the host confirms it went well, or it's confirmed automatically after 3 days.
Cancel it from the booking as early as you can, and message the host. The host is refunded your price. Turning up as booked matters to us; see the Community guidelines.
You can pin up to 3 reviews that have a comment, so they show first.
Getting paid
Go to Me › Payments and payouts and follow the steps with Stripe, our payments partner. Have photo ID (driver's licence or passport) and your BSB and account number ready, plus an ABN if you have one; sole traders without an ABN can still sign up.
Stripe keeps your bank details safe; Livvy never sees them. One set-up covers both your guest and talent profiles.
Ticket money is ready to withdraw 72 hours after your event ends, less Livvy's commission. If a guest cancels and you keep part of their ticket, that part is ready straight away.
Your payment is ready to withdraw 3 days after the host confirms the booking went well (or after it's confirmed automatically, 3 days after you mark it completed), less Livvy's commission.
Go to Me › Payments and payouts and tap Withdraw to my bank. Everything ready to withdraw goes together, in Australian dollars, and usually arrives in 2 to 3 business days.
- Pending: earned, but not ready yet (for example, the event hasn't finished).
- Ready to withdraw: you can send it to your bank.
- Paid out: sent to your bank.
Tap any payout to see the breakdown, including the Livvy fee.
A payout is held while a problem with that event or booking is being looked into. It's released, or adjusted, as soon as it's sorted, and we'll let you know.
Ratings and feedback
Guests are asked to rate the host and any talent, and can rate other guests if they'd like. Hosts are asked to rate talent, and can rate guests. Talent rate the host.
We ask you an hour after the event ends (or at 10 am the next day if it ends late at night). You have 7 days, and we'll remind you 2 days before it closes.
Pick Great, Okay or Poor, then tap what stood out. For Great and Okay you can add a comment of up to 300 characters, which shows with your name. The rating itself is anonymous.
A rating shows once you've both rated each other, or when rating closes. Your profile shows the share of Great ratings once you have 3, and what you're "Known for" (the things people mention most). Okay and Poor details are only shown to you, privately.
Yes. Choose "Felt unsafe", or add a private note, when you rate, and it goes straight to our safety team. You can also block the person from the rating screen. If anyone is in danger, call 000 first.
Yes. Go to Me › Your feedback, tap ⋯ on the comment and choose Report. We read every report and take down anything that breaks the rules.
People and chats
The People tab shows people near you. Search by username, filter by distance, age, gender and interests, and sort by nearest or most in common. The At your next event card shows who's going to your next event, so you can say hi first.
Yes, you don't need to follow each other. The only exception is if either of you has blocked the other.
Seen shows when someone has read your message. Turn off Read receipts in Privacy and safety and people won't see when you've read theirs, but you won't see theirs either. The typing dots show while someone is writing to you.
It means someone has the app open now. Profiles also show "Active today" or "this week". Turn off Show when I'm active in Privacy and safety to hide yours; you then won't see other people's either.
Not yet. Links you send show a preview. To stop chat notifications, turn off Chats in your notification settings.
Event chats become read-only 7 days after the event's end time. You can still read them.
Privacy and safety
In Me › Privacy and safety:
- Show when I'm active: the green dot and "Active now".
- Read receipts: whether people see when you've read their messages.
- Show events I'm going to: the public events you're going to, on your profile.
- Blocked profiles: everyone you've blocked.
Each profile has its own settings.
Your full name, your birthday, your address and your exact location. People see your username, age, suburb and roughly how far away you are. An event's exact address only goes to confirmed guests.
To show events and people near you, and how far away they are (rounded to the kilometre). You can turn location off and choose your suburb instead, in Me › Location. See our Privacy policy for more.
Open their profile, tap ⋯ and choose Block. They can't see your profile, follow you or message you, and you stop following each other. Any requests they've made to your events are removed. They aren't told.
To unblock, go to Me › Privacy and safety › Blocked profiles. Unblocking doesn't tell them either.
Open their profile, tap ⋯ and choose Report. Pick a reason, add anything that helps, and choose whether to block them too. They won't know it was you, and our team reads every report.
If someone is in danger, call 000 first.
Open the event, tap ⋯ and choose Report this event. We'll reply by email, usually within 48 hours.
Be real, be respectful, keep payments on Livvy and look out for each other at events. Read the full Community guidelines. Breaking them can get content removed, or an account limited, suspended or closed.
- Meet at the event, in a public place, and get there and home your own way.
- Tell a friend where you're going.
- Keep chats and payments on Livvy. Never send money to someone who asks you to.
- If something feels off, leave, and tell the host or venue staff. In an emergency, call 000.
Our Privacy policy and Terms and conditions are on the website, and in the app under Me › Legal and policies. Privacy questions can go to privacy@livvy.social.
Notifications
In Me › Notifications, turn each kind on or off: invites and requests, changes to your events, chats, talent bookings, money, people, and (for hosts) arrival updates from guests.
Turning one off stops the push, but it still shows in your notifications list. Changes to an event you're going to, and money you're owed, are always sent.
Yes, a day before and an hour before it starts. Paid tickets also get a reminder email on the day.
Check that notifications are allowed for Livvy in your phone's settings. If they're off, Livvy's notification settings show "Notifications are off on this phone" with a link to turn them on. Also check the kind you want is switched on in Me › Notifications.
Your account and help
Me › Account › Log out. It logs you out on that phone only, and your profiles stay as they are.
Yes, from Me › Account › Your profiles. Events you host are cancelled and guests refunded, talent bookings are cancelled, and money you're owed is still paid to your bank. Chats stay for the other person, shown as Deleted profile.
You can't delete your only profile on its own. To leave Livvy, delete your account.
Me › Account › Delete account. We'll tell you what happens, then send a code to your email (or by text). Entering it deletes your account straight away, and it can't be undone. Your tickets are cancelled under the refund rules, and money you're owed is still paid out.
You can also request it on the website: livvy.social/delete-account-request.
Some updates are needed to keep Livvy working properly. Tap Update, or get the latest version from the App Store or Google Play.
